Description

Aloe Vera is a desert plant, tolerating neglect and a lack of water well, with this forgiving nature making it a real favourite with gardeners. Widely grown for its ability to soothe burns with cooling sap, this slow growing succulent boasts thick fleshy leaves with toothed edges, forming wide rosettes over time.

A really easy-to-grow plant, this windowsill favourite can be moved outdoors during summer to make the most of the available sunlight and warmth, although remember to keep it away from direct sunlight for a few days until acclimatised.

Some people like to use aloe vera juice as a hair conditioner, makeup remover, or even a skin tonic, and it makes a great soothing salve for minor sunburn. To use the juice, simply remove a leaf from the plant and slit it along its length, scooping out the contents with a spoon.

Supplied 50cm tall including 15cm pot. Please note, the pictured decorative pot is not included.

Top Tips
Place your aloe in a bright, sunny place otherwise it will go dormant and stop growing.
Care Information
  • Aloe Vera hates being wet, so water about every 3 weeks and even less during the winter. Allow the soil to dry out at least 1 to 2 inches deep between waterings - use your finger to test dryness before watering.
  • Feed once in the spring and once in the summer with a balanced houseplant formula at half strength.
  • Plants do like to be restricted in their pot, so repot only when root bound, using a well-drained potting mix designed for cacti and succulents.
