Description

A wicker basket Hyacinth grow set with everything you need to get growing bulbs right away, for natural indoor displays! Beautiful and easy to use, this lined basket comes complete with peat-free compost and five Hyacinth bulbs.

Sturdy and contemporary in style, even once the initial pink flowering show is done, the container can be reused for years to come! Hyacinth ‘Fondant’ erupts with big blooms of pink petals and a delightfully sweet scent. The provided compost is nutrient-rich to ensure the best growing conditions for an abundance of blooms.

An excellent gift even for a loved one without much horticultural knowledge or growing experience, as the colourful sleeve supplied with the basket contains full cultural information.

Supplied as a wicker indoor basket with five bulbs and peat-free compost. Please note: Hyacinth bulbs are harmful if eaten/skin irritants.

Top Tips
  • It is typically best to plant Hyacinth bulbs in autumn, from September to November. Do not fret if you don’t manage to plant until closer to Christmas, as this will just result in slightly later flowering.
Care Information
  • Wearing gardening gloves, plant the bulbs close to one-another in the basket but do not allow them to touch. Plant so the tops of the bulbs are just above the surface of the compost.
  • Force Hyacinths to bloom in time for Christmas by covering the bulbs for a while. Use either an old blanket, some straw, or a thick newspaper and store them somewhere cool and dry, such as a shed or garage, for 9-10 weeks. A temperature of 9C is ideal. Check the bulbs regularly and give them a light watering if the surface compost is soft to touch.
  • Once you notice green shoots starting to grow, bring the Hyacinths indoors to a bright, yet still cool, spot. Keep away from any heat sources, like radiators, as they can grow too quickly and the blooms may topple over. Continue to water as and when the surface compost feels dry.
  • When the Hyacinths have been moved indoors, they will take roughly three weeks to flower. Then, once finished, plant the bulbs in the garden where they will flower against in the following year, around March or April.
