Description

The 'Creeping Blue Blossom' is an incredibly beautiful Californian Lilac that introduces a bounty of blue blooms and glossy evergreen leaves to the garden, guaranteed to demand the attention of all during late spring.

Around May and June, they produce beautiful clouds of pale blue blooms, which are magnets to pollinators and many other beneficial insects. Very easy to grow, this variety is one the hardiest members of the ceanothus family. The trees have been trimmed into a lollipop standard form, perfect for planting in pots on the patio or balcony.

Supplied as a pair of standard trees in 3L pots, approximately 80-90cm tall, ready to plant straight out.

Top Tips

Remove faded blooms to keep your standard tree tidy.
Cut back new growth to healthy leaf sets while it is actively growing to control the shrub's size. Do not cut branches that are more than 1 inch in diameter.

Care Information

To keep your standard tree looking at its best, remove any side shoots (laterals) from the trunk of the young tree in the winter. Any weak or competing shoots can also be removed from the top of the tree if needed.
By keeping your standard tree in its pot, you can limit its size and keep it manageable. Spring is the best time to repot potted standards.
Repot your standard tree every other year. Use the same pot if you want to keep it at its current size, or up to 5cm (2in) bigger is you would like to grow it on a bit more.
Remove the plant from its pot and trim off any rotten roots or roots that are winding around the outside of the root ball.
Cut away the bottom one-third of the root ball using a pruning saw and replant using fresh potting soil or compost.

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
