Description

A fantastic collection of bold and tropical plants, in three distinctive colours.

Mandevilla, commonly known as Dipladenia, are bush plants that produce upright trumpets formed with just a handful of petals.

The marvellous flowers appear early, growing from June through to October, bursting from sun-loving bushes that look very healthy with green, glossy leaves.

Three varieties featured in this set include ‘Jade Pink’, with pink petals that melt to yellow at the centre, ‘Jade Red’, with rich red flowers, and ‘Jade White’, with pure white blooms and showy yellow centres.

For a truly outstanding display, consider planting all three varieties together to create an intertwining show of colour.

These non-stop bloomers particularly perform well in a sunny conservatory or a greenhouse, while they can be planted out in the garden for warm summer days.

Able to tolerate heat and drought conditions, these Mandevilla are proven performers, ideal for any home.

Supplied as three established plants in 9cm pots, ready to plant.

Top Tips
Can be pruned after flowering, while cuttings can be used to propagate.
Care Information
  • Temperature control is important to consider when growing Mandevilla. From spring to autumn, aim for a temperature of at least 21C in the day and 18C at night.
  • In winter, cooler temperatures are needed, around 15C, and watering should be reduced. Only move Mandevilla outside in summer, to a warm, sheltered spot.
  • Feed fortnightly from spring to autumn with a general-purpose liquid feed, without exceeding packet guidance.

To plant:

  • Initially keep Mandevilla in their original, existing pot or a decorative container of a similar size, until the roots noticeably become overcrowded. This becomes obvious when growth starts to slow and you may be able to see visible roots in drainage holes or above the pot rim.
  • Aim to repot in February or early March. Move to a container only slightly larger than the existing one, increasing by a diameter of around 5cm.
  • When moving a Mandevilla from pot to pot, use a peat-free, loam-based compost and add grit to boost drainage.
  • Prepare a planting hole so the plant can sit at the same level, firming the compost once gently lowered into place, and watering thoroughly to help settle the compost.

Pruning:

  • When young and establishing, prune Mandevilla in spring to promote a healthy and balanced framework.
  • To do this, prune all young shoots, leaving just 3-5 strong ones to establish.
  • If only one main stem forms, reduce the length by 1/3, as this will help to encourage new stems to emerge at the base.
  • Once established, prune annually in late winter or early spring to encourage flowering, by pruning shoots that appear weak or overcrowded.

Watering:

  • Regularly water through the growing months – spring to autumn, ensuring the compost remains moist but not waterlogged.
  • Daily watering may be needed through prolonged spells of hot weather. Aim to water either first thing in the morning, or later in the evening as this is when temperatures are typically at their lowest.
  • Reduce watering in winter, keeping the compost just slightly damp. Do not allow it to dry completely.
