A new and exciting viola mix in a fabulous range of bold and bright colours – including beautiful bicolours – to give you amazing winter interest. The lightly fragrant flowers are also attractive to wildlife, providing an early season feed for any pollinators that are about.

‘Sorbet Jump Up' mix contains early blooming, free-flowering plants that remain compact and will quickly fill hanging baskets or patio planters, tumbling over pots to soften harsh edges. Also great as a colourful ground cover display between spring flowering bulbs, these violas really are a garden must-have.

With superb winter hardiness, Sorbet Mix will flower from autumn and though winter, reaching a crescendo of colour in the spring, providing you with 3 seasons worth of vibrant colour, especially during those cold, dark months where little else is of such colourful appearance. Who’d have thought you could have wonderful hanging flower displays through the middle of winter?

Planting Advice for your Violas

Unpack plugs immediately and stand them in water for an hour.
If you can’t do this, they can sit in their mini greenhouse for a week if upright and not too wet.
Plugs may be slightly dry or yellow after being in a dark box in the post, but they’ll quickly recover.
Put them somewhere warm, light and airy such as a windowsill or greenhouse.
When potting on, handle plugs carefully.
Pot on using our 9cm pots in Shuttle Trays, using good multi-purpose compost. Alternatively plant straight into baskets and grow on for a week or two before hanging up.
Give your plants a good water initially, then only when the top compost starts to dry.
They don’t like to be left in standing water. Plant approx. 20cm (8in) apart to allow them room to grow.
Feed using a high-potash feed such as Blooming Fast Superior Soluble Fertiliser for Flowers & Fruits, to encourage flowering.
Dead head when flowers fade to encourage more flowers.

Aftercare Advice

Regular maintenance and watering are essential to grow fabulous baskets that last the whole season.
Check and water baskets every day in summer, (unless the compost is wet).
Aim to keep the compost moist but not soggy and avoid wetting the foliage and flowers.
From March to June, apply a general-purpose liquid fertiliser once a week.

Pruning and Trimming

Deadhead and trim your plants regularly to maintain shape and encourage new flowers.
Do not allow plants to set seed.

Delivery Information

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
